Saturday, 30 April 2016, was a busy day for running in Tallahassee, Florida, with at least three separate events going on around town. Nearly 400 athletes, though, chose to go to the Southwood community for the the fifth annual Red Shoe Run, conducted by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tallahassee. In the longest of the three Red Shoe Run races, Jim Halley won the 10K in 39:33. Jillian Heddaeus took the women's title in 45:18, placing sixth overall. 99 people finished the 6.2-mile race.Michael Rhodes was the first master runner in the Red Shoe Run 10K, finishing second to Halley in 41:06. Travis Parks placed third overall in 42:37. Shelby Augustyniak edged Kenya Rich for the top woman master spot, 48:20 to 48:26. Augustyniak and Rich were the second and third female finishers, placing eleventh and twelfth overall.

In the 5K Andrew Wynn, a frosh distance runner at Community Christian School, edged the 2015 champion, Thomas Parker, for first, 18:48 to 18:51. Adriana Piekarewicz enjoyed a slightly longer margin in winning the women's competition, outracing runner-up Sheryl Rosen 18:58 to 19:06. Crawfordville's Duane Evans was the fastest master runner in the 3.1-mile race, placing fifth overall in 19:42.
207 athletes finished the 2016 Red Shoe Run 5K.

In addition to the athletes in the 10K and 5K, another 71 went the distance in a one-mile fun run. All three races were chip timed by Gulf Winds Track Club of Tallahassee, Florida.
