Albany State University has announced the Golden Rams' cross-country schedule for the 2017 season. Last year the ASU took the women's cross-country championship in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the ASU men were second in the league. Both squads will defend 2016 titles at the Golden Rams' home meet, the Willie Laster Invitational on Saturday, 30 September 2017.The Willie Laster meet caps a very busy September for the Golden Rams, a month where ASU has a meet scheduled every weekend. However, one of those meets, the University of West Georgia Opener on 8 September 2017, doesn't seem to exist. West Georgia doesn't list it on their own calendar, their teams are scheduled to race at Kennesaw State that day. So the Golden Rams may have an open date in September after all. Likewise, although ASU has plans to race at Troy University's Wiregrass Invitational on 14 October 2017, Troy hasn't indicated any plans to host that meet this year.
In short, expect some changes in Albany State's published schedule. Whatever happens during the regular season, though, the SIAC Championship is scheduled for 20 October 2017, and the NCAA South Regional is slated for Saturday, 4 November 2017, in Lakeland, Florida.
