Academy harriers Walker Elrod and Emmalee Johnson rule the Rejoice Run

Saturday, 15 October 2022, was a morning for the prep runners at the Rejoice Run in Donalsonville, Georgia. Grace Christian Academy's Walker Elrod won the race in 18:08, finishing the five kilometers before anyone else had run four. Emmalee Johnson of Southwest Georgia Academy topped the women's standings for the second year in a row, placing fourth overall in 23:11.


Henry Lee, a seventh-grader on the Grace Christian Academy cross-country team, took second in 22:42. Another seventh-grade cross-country runner, Owen Hunt of Southwest Georgia Academy, placed third in 23:07. Joey Harvey of Jakin, Georgia was the first master runner in the race and the fourth male finisher, placing fifth overall in 24:39.


Iron City, Georgia's Mary Hunt was the first woman master and second female finisher, coming in sixth overall in 24:39. Marigrace Garcia Simmon placed third on the women's side and seventh overall in 24:58. Simmons is a seventh-grader at Southwest Georgia Academy, where she races for the girls' cross-country team.


59 athletes finished the 2022 Rejoice Run 5K.
