A fast morning on the beach for Hobbs and Cummings

2015 Alys Beach 5KOutrunning a field of more than 300 athletes, David Hobbs of New York, New York, ran 17:59 to win the fourth annual Alys Beach 5K in (you guessed it) Alys Beach, Florida, on Sunday morning, 6 September 2015. Jonathan Turner of Gainesville, Florida, took the runner-up spot in 18:27. Former Georgia State University soccer star Chris Locandro was third in 20:22. Ricky Johnston of Columbus, Mississippi, was the fastest master runner in the race, coming in fourth overall in 20:45.


Panama City, Florida, athlete Erin Cummings won the women's title, placing seventh overall in 21:44. Half a minute back, Cameron Sanford of Birmingham, Alabama, was the second female finisher, coming in 11th overall in 22:13. Virgnia Marlow was third in the women's standings; the Albuquerque, New Mexico, athlete finished 15th overall in 22:48. Deborah Williams of Panama City Beach, Florida, was the top woman master and the fourth female finisher in the 5K, placing 18th overall in 22:54.


Timing and finish line services for the fourth annual Alys Beach 5K were provided by Results Event Timing, LLC, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Proceeds of the race benefitted the Alaqua Animal Refuge via the Alys Foundation.
