North of Albany, Georgia, Chehaw Park has miles upon miles of trails where you can do a long run nearly every day of the year. Since 2012, though, there is one day of the year that you can run in the Chehaw Park Zoo, past camels and cheetahs and kangaroos. It's a race, and it's quite simply called the Chehaw Through The Zoo 5K.The fourth annual Chehaw Through The Zoo 5K was Saturday morning, 19 September 2015. Good Life City runner Arnoldo DeJesus led the charge past the animals, winning the race in an event record of 18:55, breaking the 2012 mark of 19:29 set by Josh Fix. Robert McCoy was the runner up and top master runner, running 19:06. Master runner Robert Nolasco was third in 20:11.
Tatiana Foster was the first woman in the race, placing eleventh overall in 24:53. Madye Carter (14th, 25:26), Leslie Clemons (18th, 26:05), and Nichole Graham (20th, 26:12) took the next three places in the women's standings. Jolie Grace was the top woman master and the fifth female finisher, coming in 23rd overall in 26:41.
155 athletes finished the 2015 Chehaw Through The Zoo 5K. Timing services were provided by Milestone Race Authority of Jacksonville, Florida.
