Leading roles for Guyas and Rosen at the Break-A-Leg 5K

6 February 2016 was the second Saturday in a row that Paul Guyas had laced on his racing shoes, taken to the streets of Tallahassee, Florida, and come back a winner. After a victory at the Trailblazer 5K on 30 January 2016, Guyas notched another win the following week at Young Actors Theatre's fourth annual Break-A-Leg 5K, setting a new course record of 18:50. Sheryl Rosen took the women's title with a 21:12, placing second overall. 129 athletes finished the 3.1-mile race.


Franz Roeder was third in the race and secong in the men's standings, running 22:13. Gary Johnston was the fastest master runner in the Break-A-Leg 5K, fourth overall in 22:35. Deerlake Middle School cross country runner William Wilkerson, a sixth-grader, took fifth in 22:48.


Mercedes Puig was second in the women's standings, seventh overall in 23:05. Paula O'Neill captured the woman master's title, the third female finisher and ninth overall in 24:08. Eleven-year-old Layla Thompson edged Martha Bademan for the fourth spot in the women's standings, 24:28 to 24:29. Thompson and Bademan were tenth and eleventh overall.


The Break-A-Leg 5K was a fundraiser for Tallahassee's Young Actors Theatre.
