The Run For The Cookies heavily revised the top ten in the women's standings. Not only did Midgett replace Ani Veltcheva at the top of the list, but Anne Kennedy moved into the number four spot with the 19:25 she posted at the Run For The Cookies, Sheryl Rosen's 20:42 at the Run For The Cookies is seventh on the list, Hollis Bartlett's 20:53 at Run For The Cookies puts her at eighth, and Kathleen Whitworth's 21:35 earns her the number ten spot.
The Run For The Cookies wasn't the only race with a top ten performance. Jillian Heddaeus is ninth on the list because of the 21:31 winning time she posted at the Run 2-1-1 5K.
The men's list didn't change nearly as much. Nate Kaiser's 16:41 at the Bowlegs 5K is still the top time in the city. In fact, the first seven performers in the rankings haven't changed since January. There were two new entries in the top ten, though, and both came from the Run For The Cookies. Clay Milford's 17:15 from that race puts the Maclay sophomore eighth on the list. FAMU distance runner Thomas Howell owns the number nine spot based on the 17:21 he ran at Run For The Cookies.
I don't expect either list to make it through spring racing unscathed. There are some fast races coming up in Tallahassee on USATF-certified 5K courses. Looking on the calendar, there's the 28th annual Shamrock Scurry 5K on 12 March 2016, the inaugural Florida High FAN 5K on 26 March 2016, the 41st annual Springtime 5K on 2 April 2016, the ninth annual FSU Autism 5K on 9 April 2016, the 42nd annual Palace Saloon 5K on 16 April 2016. the third annual Nene Fest 5K on 30 April 2016, and the second annual TMH For Life Challenge Spring 5K on 30 April 2016. If you can't run a fast time at one of those races then perhaps you're doing something wrong.
