On 5 March 2016 Dan Butzin was in Adel, Georgia tallying a win in the Adel Kiwanis 5K. Butzin was back in Adel six days later on Friday evening, 11 March 2016, looking for another first-place finish, this time in the second annual Glow For Alpha Rho 5K. Unfortunately for Butzin, the race's defending champion was there, Nick Rosatti of Hahira, Georgia. Running 18:34, Rosatti got his second straight Glow 5K title, leaving Butzin over 100 meters behind. Moultrie, Georgia master runner Judi Burnette was the first woman in the race, placing twelfth overall in 26:32. 71 athletes finished the 3.1-mile race.Dan Butzin was the overall runner-up in 19:02. Cody Pezent, a frosh on the Cook High cross country team, took third in 20:00. Pezent had finished second in 2016's inaugural Glow For Alpha Rho 5K. Valdosta, Georgia athlete Jim Dawkins was the top master, placing fifth overall in 23:35.
The 2015 Glow Run women's champ, Adel's Angela Pezent, was second in the women's standings of the 2016 race, placing thirteenth overall in 26:47. Shannon Emanuel of Ray City, Georgia was the third female finisher, fifteenth overall in 27:34.
Hosted by the Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, proceeds of the 2016 Glow For Alpha Rho 5K benefit a scholarship fund for a 2016 graduate of Cook High School in Adel. A Course/Line, LLC, of Valdosta, Georgia provided timing and finish line services.
