Shearon, the runner-up in the 2017 Mardi Gras 5K, had also won the race in 2014 and 2015. Nicolas Waddell, a Rutherford High cross-country runner, finished second behind Shearon in 19:57. Master runner Dan Station took third in 20:22.
Santa Isenhhour was second in the women's standings and fifteenth overall in 24:18. Master runner Kim Allan was the third female finisher and seventeenth overall in 24:34.
145 athletes finished the 2018 Mardi Gras 5K. Another 43 completed a 5K walk, and seventeen finished a one-mile fun run. Proceeds of the race went to benefit the Honor Flights program for World War II veterans.
