Swanson and Minga keep the Coach Post 10K titles in Panama City Beach

Coach Post 10K & 5KOn Saturday morning, 8 April 2016, for the fourth year in a row athletes gathered at Saint Andrews State Park in Panama City Beach, Florida for the annual Coach Post 10K. Ezra Swanson won the race by 200 meters, covering the two-loop course around the park in 41:52. Swanson, a Panama City Beach athlete, had finished runner-up in the race the previous year. Master runner Allie Minga, another Panama City Beach runner, won the women's title in the 2017 10K, placing fourth overall in 45:48. 37 athletes finished the 6.2-mile race.


Ivan De La Cruz, a frosh cross-country runner at Mosley High, took second behind Swanson in 42:44. Eleven-year-old Nicolas Waddell placed third in 44:18.


Katie Nicksic of Katy, Texas was second in the women's standings and eleventh overall in 54:40. Lynn Haven, Florida master runner Debbie Chitwood was the third female finisher and twelfth overall in 54:47.

For anyone who thought one lap around the Saint Andrews State Park was enough running for one morning, there was the Coach Post 5K. Fifteen-year--old Brayson Barber won the shorter race in 19:49. Andrew Bahati of Lynn Haven took second in 20:17, and Caiden Curtis was third in 20:28.


Heather Webb--a master runner from Sterling, Virginia--was the top woman, placing sixteenth overall in 26:37. Megan Colravy was the women's runner-up and 25th overall in 28:47. Melissa Alverson was the third woman in the 5K, running 28:55 and placing 27th overall.


113 athletes finished the 5K. Both races were timed by Gulfsport Timing of Pensacola, Florida.
