Gabriel Curtis set the early pace in the boys' race; the Mount Dora Christian senior took the field through the first 800 in 2:15. After that, Hunter Appleton, a senior from Brother Martin High in New Orleans, charged ahead of Curtis. Appleton and Curtis opened a gap on the rest of the field, seemingly transforming the 3200 into a two-man race. But almost right at the 2400-meter mark, Curtis started to struggle. For six laps he had been the smoothest runner on the track, now it looked like he was running in Jello. Appleton ran away from him, while the field began to catch up to Curtis. Appleton lost some ground as well during the final lap, but he was too far ahead to be caught. He won the race in 9:06.76, edging out his previous personal best of 9:07.79--a time that had earned him sixth place at the 2018 FSU Relays.

Lake Wales junior Anderson Denton was runner-up in 9:11.93, and Robinson junior Ethan Geiger took third in 9:13.46. Caden Monk, a senior at Buchholz, was fourth in 9:14.40. Wharton senior Nehemiah River placed fifth in 9:17.22. Benjamin Hartvigsen, the 2019 Florida high school cross-country champion in class 4A, was sixth in 9:19.48, just ahead of the 9:19.56 posted by seventh-place finisher Jake Turner, an Armwood junior. Gabriel Curtis, the 2019 Florida high school cross-country champion in class 1A and early leader in the 3200, ended the race tenth in 9:25.97.
The boys' field had included two of Florida's reigning state champs in cross-country, and so did the girls' field. Riverview junior and two-time Footlocker finalist Alyssa Hendrix had won the class 4A girls' title race at Apalachee Regional Park, and Pine Crest junior Tsion Yared held the class 1A girls' title. However, it was Parker Valby, an East Lake junior, who grabbed the early lead, hitting the first 400 in a torrid 71 seconds. Valby was still up front after three laps, heading a lead pack of Villages senior Rebecca Clark, Tsion Yared, and Plant frosh Mary Ellen Eudaly.

With just over 800 meters to go, Clark darted into the lead. Eudaly went with Clark, and 500 meters out the Plant frosh moved into first. The bell rang for the last lap. At the top of the final backstretch, Clark overtook Eudaly and charged for home. Clark crossed the finish line with a 30-meter lead, first in 10:18.11, the second-best girls' time in FSU Relays history. Valby grabbed second in 10:24.03, just ahead of Yared's third-place 10:25.73. Eudaly struggled home fourth at 10:28.36, just two seconds slower than the Plant High school record. Hendrix was fifth in 10:32.60.
