Martinez finished 80 meters ahead of the 2018 Mardi Gras 5K champion, master runner David Shearon. A Panama City Beach triathlete, Shearon ran 19:34 for second place. Master runner Ben Branton edged Trey Carr for third in the men's standings, 21:41 to 21:45. Branton and Carr were fifth and sixth overall.
It wasn't Rory Claussen's first Mardi Gras 5K. She had also run the race in 2017, finishing runner-up in the women's standings. In the 2019 race, the runner-up spot went to Kristie Martinez of Macon, who placed fourth overall in 21:07. Jamie Phillips was the third woman and sixteenth overall in 24:33. Debbie Chitwood was the first woman master and fourth female finisher, eighteenth overall in 25:08.
165 athletes finished the 2019 Mardi Gras 5K.
