Master runners Brent Moody and Cathy Bond master the Shamrock Scurry

On Saturday morning, 1 March 2025, master runners swept the overall titles at the Shamrock Scurry 5K for the first time in 36 runnings of the Tallahassee, Florida road race. Tallahassee master runner Brent Moody went 17:40 on the 3.1-mile course through the Killearn Estates neighborhood, winning by almost 300 meters. Another Tallhasee master runner, Cathy Bond, posted a 70-meter win in the women's division, coming in thirteenth overall in 21:58.

The Scurry started just a few minutes after 8:30 AM near Killearn Methodist Church on Roscommon Drive. Seconds later the athletes turned north onto Shamrock Street. Brent Moody was already leading at the turn; a kilometer down the road that lead had grown to 80 meters, with Tallahassee athletes Timothy Stap and Tyler Treese the closest pursuers. For the rest of the race Moody only widened the gap on his way to a 17:40 win. Stap took second in 18:41 and Treese went 18:54 for third.


Competition in the women's division was a duel between two Tallahassee master runners, Cathy Bond and Nancy Moody. A kilometer from the start, Moody was a few steps ahead of Bond. A kilometer from the finish, Bond was a few steps ahead of Moody. Bond made the most of the final kilometer, expanding her lead from a few steps to 70 meters on her way to a 21:58 win. Moody was the women's runner-up, fifteenth overall in 22:16. At 23:24, Alyssa Cooper was third in the women's standings and 21st overall.

330 athletes finished the 2025 Shamrock Scurry 5K, and another 128 completed a one-mile fun run. Gulf Winds Track Club of Tallahassee, Florida chip-timed the race.

postponed because of a severe winter storm.
The Shamrock Scurry was held from Killearn UMC from 1979
to 1996.
The Shamrock Scurry was not held from 1997 to 2003.

Celebration Baptist Church.
The Shamrock Scurry was not held in 2009.
From 2010 to 2025 the Shamrock Scurry was held from Killearn UMC.
